  • NEWS First Official Public Enemies Photos Source: Empire Online November 29, 2008 While a lot of photos were taken on the set of Public Enemies, the new issue of Empire magazine features these first two official shots of Johnny Depp and Christian Bale in the Michael Man crime-drama, scheduled for a July 1, 2009 release. An adaptation of Brian Burrough's book "Public Enemies: America's Greatest Crime Wave and the Birth of the FBI, 1933-43," the film centers on the government's attempt to stop John Dillinger (Depp) and his gang. Bale plays the famed FBI agent Melvin Purvis.
